‘In Yer Face’ Exhibition

In June 2015, ‘Six Foot Gallery’ will be featuring an exhibition titled ‘In Yer Face’ which will repel yet still draw in its audience. It is officially confirmed that three artists will be featuring their work which will be Jenny Robertson, Yasmin Soliman and Cameron Wallace.

Starting with the work that is to be featured by Jenny Robertson, who is a freelance artist based in Glasgow. Her artistic qualities and expressions evolved from a young age, resulting in her now creating pieces that are visually stunning and possess a whimsical, dream-like quality. Her use of strong colours, combined with images that are both intricate and jagged detailed, create an illustrative form of storytelling that is determined to make itself heard.

‘The value I place on art is the ability to drift, or sometimes be thrown, into another world entirely, while creating it and to feel emotions more deeply then is possible without this focus and direction.’

Moving over to the work of Yasmin Soliman, an Internationally published photographer based in Scotland. Her presented work is going to be focusing on a selection of photographic images that is titled ‘Fragmented’. The collection will be featuring photographs of extreme close-ups of selected parts of the human body. The features are a broad variation of age, sex, ethnicity and size, which makes it a fascinating, striking representation of the human form and its physical mechanisms.

‘Taking inspiration from Jenny Saville, John Coplans and many others, Fragmented engages viewers and successfully describes the fluid nature of the human form – as we are constantly moving, breathing, being, using our bodies to navigate through the material world.’ Yasmin Soliman

Finally, we come to the work of Cameron Wallace, a young artist from Paisley. A majority of his work is created through the interesting use of collage techniques. This particular technique results in surreal creations that range from being beautiful, humorous and grotesque. His work is another example of prominent storytelling that is determined to be screamed out to the audience.

‘ I hope to inject some kind of dark comedy into my work, though I rarely know the punchline. Comedy and tragedy blur for me and I hope to evoke this in my work.’ Cameron Wallace
