We’re delighted to welcome Isobel MacRae to Six Foot Gallery for an exhibition of painting, sculptural work, and jewellery. Isobel is a Scottish artist and maker, originally from the Highlands and now based in Glasgow. She studied Sculpture at Glasgow School of Art, and her work is deeply influenced by Hebridean landscapes and seascapes.

Living with schizophrenia, Isobel finds the creative process cathartic, though her illness does not define her practice. She is a passionate advocate for widening access to the arts and has spent many years working in inclusive arts practice, championing the mental health benefits of creative engagement.

In There, Then. Here, Now, Isobel’s first solo exhibition, she explores colour, form and surface, through a mixed media approach. Working intuitively, her abstract paintings and landscapes aim to evoke emotion and memory, creating a sense of place rather than than depicting the landscape literally.

Alongside her painting practice, Isobel has been developing her skills in metalsmithing and ceramics. The exhibition includes a selection of vessels, bowls, and recent jewellery work, reflecting her ongoing exploration of new forms and techniques.
