‘I am an ex-zoo keeper and got privileged access to take photos of Edinburgh Zoo chimps. The genetic separation between chimpanzees and ourselves is famously small. My photos are portraits of personalities – rather than wildlife photos of chimps. Chimps make wonderful subject matter because they have such easily accessible expressive faces.’
