Abbey Rawson is an emerging visual artist based in South Australia. She creates original, limited edition prints – primarily engaging in intaglio, relief, monotype, mono-print and collagraph techniques. Her works explore internal landscapes, narratives, surrealism, symbolism, folklore, transformation, intuition, nature, and the human condition – often with a light coat of humour.
‘Underworld Blue’ is a series of combination prints exploring internal landscapes, symbolism, the act of hiding and revealing, intuition and humour. Underworld was created through utilising intaglio and relief-printing techniques, while Blue Worlds is layered through the use of intaglio and monotype processes. Both prints are connected through their common imagery. The series was developed during a three-month residency at the Glasgow Print Studio, funded by a Grant from Helpmann Academy.
